The long-awaited Suzuki Jimny 5 door is here. The SUV made its global debut at Auto Expo 2023.
The 5-door Jimny is an extended version of the 3-door. . It retains the boxy design and offers seating space for 5.Suzuki already sells his 3-door version of the Jimny in the international market, but the Indian market only offers a 5-door option to appeal to mass segment buyers.
The body size is 3,985mm long x 1,645mm wide x 1,720mm high. The ground clearance is 210 mm, the approach angle is 36 degrees and the departure angle is 50 degrees.
Starting with the styling, Jimny’s 5-door apron is the same as the standard model, such as round headlights and louver grille. The changes are on the obvious side thanks to the extra length and extra door.Wheel design and rear end are also faithfully reproduced to the production car.
The interior is the same as the 3 door. The dashboard is all black and looks rugged, with his high-mounted 9.0-inch touchscreen taking center stage. Some parts, such as the steering wheel and circular dials for his HVAC controls, are shared with other Suzuki models such as the Swift. In addition, the passenger side has a grab handle attached to the dashboard.
A unique feature is the rectangular instrument housing with low analog circular instruments for the speedometer and rev counter, with another MID in between. Other highlights include plenty of smart storage, a center console-mounted front power window button, a row of center console toggle switches, and a 4×4 shifter. The Indian specification Jimny is a 4-seater model with a second row bench layout and a trunk of 208L. With the rear seats folded down, the trunk expands to 332 liters.
The powertrain is the same as before, with the larger five-door suggesting slower speeds and slightly less fuel efficiency. A naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine develops 104 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque, with all-wheel drive via a 5-speed manual or his 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Part-time four-wheel drive with a hard-wired front axle and a reduction gear in the transfer case. There are no cross-axle differential locks, but the brakes function similarly. By the way, the rear brakes are drums, while the front ones are ventilated discs. 195/80 R15 is the standard tyre size. Fuel tank capacity is 40 litres. Depending on the equipment, the curb weight ranges from 1195 to 1210 kg.
